Senior Correspondent Partners with Senior Living Organization

Raleigh, N.C., February 28, 2017 — Senior Correspondent, a digital news venture that shares the stories of older adults, has formed a partnership with Wesley Homes, a faith-based nonprofit senior living organization headquartered in Washington state.

Through the partnership, Wesley Homes residents explore life experiences by crafting essays and poetry. Senior Correspondent publishes those writings across its award-winning website and promotes engagement with readers of all ages through its social media channels.

The partnership gives Wesley Homes a community landing page on the Senior Correspondent website, professional editing and social media promotion. Residents experience the sense of purpose that comes with reporting on their lives, while making intergenerational connections through an extensive online community.

“We strive to enhance the lives of older adults, so we’re thrilled to partner with Senior Correspondent, which shares our values around innovation, creativity, and lifelong learning,” says Wesley Homes Executive Director, Alex Candalla.

Launched in 2010 by Raleigh, N.C.-based communications firm Signal Hill, Senior Correspondent features the reporting of veteran journalists alongside personal essays, commentary and poetry contributed by older adults, many of whom live in retirement communities.

Senior Correspondent’s aim is to create a fuller picture of contemporary issues and historic moments by providing context and personal perspective — “a seasoned view of the world,” as the media venture puts it. Grounded in the latest research on successful aging and life review, Senior Correspondent enhances the well-being of older adults through the power of narrative.

“Wesley Homes’ forward-thinking philosophy makes it a perfect partner for Senior Correspondent," says the venture’s founder, Daniel Pryfogle. “Wesley Homes sees older adults as creative, gifted individuals who have wisdom to share with others. So we’re delighted to work together on our mission to amplify the voices of older adults for the good of society.”
