Tangible reminder

Tangible reminder

I've had many life lessons & I've learned from each one of them. One lesson has hit home time & again. But it was really brought home this past Easter Sunday. On that day I was extremely sad and very angry over circumstances beyond my control. I was trying to work through these feelings by keeping myself busy & quietly praying for much of the day. Early in the evening I went out to the garden, which always soothes me & brings me comfort. I retrieved my gloves from the usual place, & slipped them on to pick up some twigs that had fallen in the flower beds. Almost immediately I felt something in the ring finger of my right glove. I pulled the glove off & inside there was a ring I had never seen before. The ring is sterling silver, obviously old and on the outside, in raised lettering, it quotes the Bible verse John 13:34 - "LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU". The ring was found inside of my glove, & hadn't been there when I wore them a day or two before. Nobody else wears these gloves. The ring had not been seen by my husband or my self before. It had been on the INSIDE of the glove so it wasn't something that I had picked up out of the flowerbeds. There was no earthly explanation why this ring was inside of my glove. The ring with it's inscription fit me in more ways than one. Although through life I had been learning the lesson, time & again, to "love one another", it was certainly brought home with the surprising appearance of this ring at exactly the moment when I needed it most. It brought & continues to bring a feeling of serenity. It is a constant reminder to love others as I am loved; a life lesson that I now have a tangible reminder of.
