A Memorable Moment

A Memorable Moment

I interviewed my grandmother where she told me about the time she met John F. Kennedy and his wife.

"My name is Mavis Steidinger. At the time I was living with my husband on a farm near Marathon, Wisconsin. In the summer of 1960, John F. Kennedy came to Wausau, Wisconsin to give a speech as part of his campaign. My husband and I along with our next door neighbors went to hear his speech at The Wausau Hotel. As he was greeting voters I was able to shake both his and his wife, Jackie Kennedy’s hand. It meant a lot more to me after he was assassinated because I had met him."
